Facilities

A car park with limited parking slots available for patients. We have  dedicated  bays for disabled and parents with children. Clinicians have a separate parking area.

A children’s play area is available out side the entrance on the patio area with some play items and a ‘Disney hut’. Four  benches are available for patients in patio area . A well maintained garden is adjacent to the practice premises.

The Surgery ensures ground floor access to all consulting rooms, thus assisting the disabled and parents with pushchairs. On the left as you enter the waiting room we have standard toilet facilities. Disabled toilet as well as  baby changing area are available next to nurses room

Our waiting room is open plan with a television screen. We also supply a range of magazines to appeal to the majority of tastes. A section of the waiting area is set aside for our younger patients with some play items.

The Practice has a portable hearing loop for those who have a hearing aid. This is located in the main reception area. Please ask the receptionist on duty if you wish to use it during your consultation with a doctor.

An automated arrival system allows you to book in as "arrived" to save you waiting at the reception desk, if you wish to use it.

A patient calling system is in operation with a beep to  alert the patients when clinician is ready to see .

A Chaperone will be offered where appropriate for intimate examinations.

A wheelchair is available for loan whilst on our premises.

If you need a confidential discussion with a receptionist, please ask to use the side room.

Translation for patients who do not speak English can be arranged by appointment.

We offer early and late clinics by nurse and GP for the conveninec of our patients 

 

CERVICAL SMEARS

Women will be offered a cervical (cervix-neck of the womb) smear every three years routinely between 25–49 years of age, and five yearly between the ages of 50-64. Our nurses have received special training for this purpose. If you have not had a smear in the last three/five years  make an appointment with the nurse.

65+ Only screen those who have not been screened since age 50 or have had recent abnormal tests

CHILD HEALTH IMMUNISATIONS

We encourage all childhood immunisations to be done in the surgery. Reminders will be sent to you from the Child Health Department – please phone to make arrangements to  see the nurse.

CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT

All patients with diabetes, coronary heart disease, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and hypertension are encouraged to see our practice nurse for their review appointments, monitoring and supervision of treatment.

Your  doctor  provides contraceptive advice as appropriate within his  normal appointments.

HEALTH CLINICS

Patients are offered a New Patient Health Check on joining the practice and thereafter Well Man and Well Woman checks – 3 yearly if requested.

MATERNITY CARE

Your doctor  has antenatal care included in their surgery schedule and shares antenatal care with the midwife. The practice midwife holds weekly clinics on Thursday mornings.

MINOR SURGERY

The doctor offers a number of small procedures that can be carried out at the surgery including cryotherapy for warts and verrucas.

NON-NHS WORK

We can provide a range of non-NHS services for which we charge the standard fee recommended by the British Medical Association. These services include examinations for employers, solicitors, insurance companies, PSV, HGV and elderly driving licenses. Please note a charge is usually made for completing  holiday cancellation forms and insurance certificates. Enquire with your GP for further details.

SMOKING CESSATION

Stop Smoking Service

A regular smoker’s chance of getting lung cancer is 40 times that of a non-smoker. The chance of dying from coronary heart disease is more than doubled in smokers and tripled in heavy smokers. The risk goes up eight fold in smokers with other risk factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Ask for advice about giving up smoking from our stop smoking advisor who is  trained to advise on smoking cessation.

TRAVEL IMMUNISATIONS & OTHER INJECTIONS

The practice is not a Yellow Fever vaccination centre but offers a full range of injections and advice for travel. Please allow six weeks before travelling when contacting the surgery as some injections consist of courses of three individual jabs.
